julie fleps
Julie founded Fleps Designs, LTD in 2005 with a large scale remodel of an architecturally significant home in Evanston. Since then she has worked with clients in Chicago and the Northshore to create homes that are warm, inviting, and personalized to each clients unique lifestyle and tastes. Julie earned her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She then spent ten years in fashion design and retail co-founding the groundbreaking boutique Wear in Good Health in 1986, winning the Chicago chapter of Fashion Group International’s Rising Star award in 1991.
Julie’s interest in weaving (see the fleps designs instagram account) was kindled after being inspired by the work of Chicago fiber artist Bryana Bibbs and an online workshop with her taken in early 2020. The down time afforded by the pandemic was filled with hand weaving exploration and has evolved into a serious commitment that includes classes at The Chicago Weaving School and the takeover of the office for studio space. Julie’s fascination and love of color and materials arranged to evoke mood and meaning continues.
megan magill
Megan has been assisting Julie with design projects since the fall of 2011. Her own design background was jumpstarted after she managed a year-long addition/renovation of her own home. Megan has a fine art background and recently completed her MFA at Maine Media College. She now splits her time between design and fine art pursuits and finds that the two inform each other and gives her a unique perspective and approach to working with clients.
